Page 8Mrs. Johanna J. Sommer, was born Oct. 7, 1830 at Nendeck, Wurtemberg, Germany, was married to John A. Bauer at Cincinnati, Ohio on February 18, 1855, who preceded her to the grave May 23, 1888.
Mrs. Bauer died at her home in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 17, 1908, aged 77years, 8 months and 10 days.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at the age of 13 years and has been a constant Christian ever since.
She leaves a family of grown up children to mourn her loss.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wm. Mercer, at Union Chapel, on Saturday, June 20, 1908 at 11 o’clock, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery.

Page 4Mrs. Johanna Bauer, mother of Geo. and Sherman Bauer, of South township was buried at Blair Chapel last Saturday. She had been making her home with her two sons and a daughter in Des Moines, where she died at the age of seventy-seven years. Her husband, John Bauer, died about twenty years ago in South township, and was buried at Blair Chapel cemetery.
She leaves five sons and one daughter, William of Kansas City, Joseph and Julius, who conduct the Hotel Chamberlain drug store in Des Moines; George and Sherman, who live on the farm in South township, and the daughter who lives in Des Moines.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Mercer at Blair Chapel church where they body was laid to rest.
