Elsie A. Woodruff, a longtime Winterset resident until recent years, died at Anaheim, California last Saturday, March 8. She was 78 years of age.
Mrs. Woodruff was born at Altamont, South Dakota on April 7, 1896, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Ihrke. She was married to Charles A. Woodruff in 1920.
Mrs. Woodruff lived in Winterset from 1943 until 1972, when she moved to California to make her home with her daughter, Wanda Price.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Wanda) Price of Anaheim, California and Mrs. Walter Oliver of Lacona, Iowa; and one son, William Woodruff of Des Moines. Other survivors include 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, William Ihrke of Altamont, South Dakota; and two sisters, Hatta Wiersbech of Aberdeen, South Dakota and Erna Fritz of Mesa, Arizona.
Mrs. Woodruff was preceded in death by her husband on November 14, 1967.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. this Wednesday, March 12 at the Patterson Methodist Church with the Rev. Eldon Ringle and the Rev. Jerry Oliver officiating. Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery.
