Phyllis Thomas, 85, of Des Moines, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, at Westview Care Center in Indianola.
She was born and raised in Winterset, IA, graduating from Winterset High School in 1941. Phyllis married Dan Thomas in 1953 and enjoyed 35 years of marriage before he passed away. She attended Capital City College and was a medical clerk until retirement in 1985. Phyllis enjoyed Bingo, family get-togethers and her grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by children Roger Thomas, Kelvin (Jory) Thomas and Dana (Ed) Burton; five grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; brother Raymond (Nellie) McDonald and sister Ann Raftis. She is preceded in death by her husband Dan and brothers Marion and Kenneth McDonald.
A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 22, at Merle Hay Funeral Home with a visitation Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
