CHARLES W. "CHUCK" SPILLERS
Amarillo, TX

Charles W. (Chuck) Spillers, age 71 of Amarillo, Texas, died on December 5, 2008.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 in Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Chuck was born in Redfield, Iowa on December 31, 1936. He grew up in Earlham, and graduated from Earlham Iowa High School. Chuck served his country in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, NC in 1957-1959 as a paratrooper and a football player. On March 27, 1965, he married Lou Montgomery and her four children. He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1995 after thirty-one years of service. He rodeoed all his life and is a lifetime Gold Card Member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association since 1961. One of his favorite things to do was trout fishing with Lou at Monument Lake in Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his parents Vernon R. and Mable G. Spillers and one brother Robert Spillers.

He is survived by his wife Lou Spillers; three sons Les Montgomery, Charles Spillers Jr. and Bob Spillers and wife Stephanie; three daughters Vicki Welty and her husband Mike, Jo Greer and her husband Billy, and Jamie Collie and her husband Jody; two brothers Vernon C. Spillers of Adel, IA and Preston Spillers of Elk City, OK; one sister Virginia Lenocker of Dexter IA; fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
