Norma P. John, 77, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Iles Funeral Homes - Grandview Park Chapel. Burial will be held at the Fort Sill Old Post Cemetery in Fort Sill, OK. Graveside Service will be officiated by the family minister, Pastor Rob Stone of Cornerstone Cowboy Church in Marlow, OK.
Norma was born January 29, 1931 in Prescott, Iowa the daughter of Elma Pearl (Woodside) and Alva Guy Ingraham. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1951. Norma married Michael James John in 1951. They retired from the US Army in 1974 at Fort Sill, OK. Michael died in 1976 and Norma lived in Oklahoma until moving back to Des Moines ten years ago.
Norma loved animals, homemaking, and watching the squirrels and hummingbirds. She also enjoyed her garden, flowers, and going for long rides around Grays Lake and surrounding areas of Des Moines.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Stephen) Blacksmith of Sterling, OK; her companion, Leonard Larson of Des Moines; granddaughter, Heather John Sanders; great grandchildren, Jonna May, Mykeal and Gabriel Sanchez all of Sterling, OK; brothers and sisters: Lois (Bill) Matheny, Marge (Bobby) Hupp, Bob Ingraham, Sharon (Russ) Stonehocker and Beverly (Wendell) Adamson all of Des Moines; Kenny (Dee) Ingraham of Webster City, IA, and Wanda (Michael) Catron of Spoken, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters: Kate Schroeder, Glen Ingraham, Helen Goodwin and two in infancy.
