Friday, February 2, 2007Beulah (Bea) Neomi Ehlers entered into rest on January 30, 2007 in Paradise, California. She was born to Charles and Lena Short on July 28, 1925 in Earlham, Iowa and was the youngest of nine children.
She graduated high school in Dexter, Iowa.
She married John Derrough in 1945 and several years later moved to Southern California where she attended a vocational college graduating as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. They moved to Paradise in 1968 where she worked at Feather River Hospital for many years and then for Dr. Larry Miller as a Medical Assistant until her retirement in 1980.
She enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing pool, travel, and gardening.
In 1980 she married Dale Ehlers and they spent their retirement years together until his passing in 2004.
Bea is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Richard Blacksten of Milpitas, California and is preceded in death by her daughter Mary Ann Whitman. She has two step-children, Linda Ehlers and Ron Ehlers of San Jose, California. Bea is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for her on Saturday, February 3rd at the Magalia Community Church at 2 p.m. Arrangements are being handled through the Rose Chapel.
