Elizabeth Houseworth, daughter of John and Elizabeth Houseworth, was born in Snyder County, Pennsylvania, April 16, 1861, and after a short illness was called suddenly into the other life Aug. 6, 1927, her age being 66 years, 3 months and 21 days.

She with her parents moved from Pennsylvania to Buchanan, Berrian County, Michigan, when a small child and when only ten years of age she came with her parents to their farm home near Earlham, where she lived a happy and prosperous life until the time of her death.

She was united to Joseph Gilbert Sept. 17, 1876, and to this union there were born three sons—John Franklin, Raymond Walter, and Loyal Royal. Raymond Walter lives in Dawson, Iowa. The other two live on their farm near Earlham, Iowa.

Mrs. Gilbert’s church preference was the Evangelical. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, her three boys, one sister, Mrs. Frank Nevitt and one brother Adam Houseworth, both of Guthrie Center, Iowa, also three grandsons and a large number of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Gilbert was a devoted wife and mother, and constant and faithful to every interest of the home. To her, home was the sweetest place on earth. She ever gave with unstinted love the fullest measure of devotion in service to her loved ones and friends. She was a pioneer and knew the honest toils of the journey, and worn and weary she has fallen asleep. She is resting from her labors and her works will follow her.

The services were conducted by Dr. A. N. Simpson in the Christian Church at 2:30 on Sunday afternoon and interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
