Merle C. Godown, son of Pearl Gray Godown and Charles P. Godown, was born April 12, 1912 in Sherman County, Nebraska and passed away October 9, 1975, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

He moved to Iowa in 1940 and he has been engaged in farming and feeding cattle.

He was united in marriage to Lillian M. Feldman on June 1, 1935. He was a member of Worthington United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife, Lillian.

He is survived by his son, Dean; daughter-in-law, Maggie; and grandchildren, Linda and Shelley, all living in Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, Jim; three sisters, Blanche Scmidt, Laura Ahrens, all of Ravanna, Nebraska, and Viola Duncan of Kearney, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held October 12 at Worthington United Methodist church with Rev. Don Harbour officiating. Casket bearers were Jim Kress, Joe Fleming, Van Storck, Bill D. Martens, Jim Troutman and Carroll Wigton. Honorary casket bearers were Ralph Hunter, Ray Penn and Gus Lorenze. Funeral arrangements were by Evans-McKee Funeral Home.

Graveside services were held at Highland Cemetery, Ravenna, Nebraska on October 13 at 1:00 p.m.
