ALBERTA LITTLE, WINTERSET

Alberta Little, 76, of Winterset died Nov. 30, 2008, at Kavanagh House on Grand in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with the Revs. Kevin and Sue Blader officiating. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 3) at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with family receiving friends from 6–8 p.m. Burial will be at Hooten Cemetery in Madison County. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Alberta Little was born June 15, 1932, in Winterset to Albert and Mary (Travis) Fosher. In 1950, she graduated from Winterset High School and on July 15, 1950, she married Russell Junior Little in Davenport. Alberta, a lifetime resident of Madison County, had worked in the nursing field for many years. Her career included director of nursing at Winterset Care Center South and, later, longterm health care administrator for both Care Centers North and South. She was a past member of Crown Rebekah Lodge, American Business Women’s Association, Winterset Square Dance Club, served on the advisory board at Southwest Community College, and was a member of the First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a grandson, Daron Allen.

She is survived by one son, Albert “Bud” Little of Winterset; one daughter, Juanita Fettkether of Winterset; a sister, Dorothy Mae Davis of Weyauwega, Wis.; and four grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Note: Memorial sheet handed out at funeral gave the name "Alberta Rae Little".
