Nellie Marie McCradden was born in Madison County, Iowa on November 14, 1898 and passed away February 12, 1986 at the Earlham Care Center where she had been a resident since 1975.

In 1918 Nellie moved to Dexter and in 1928 was married to George L. McCradden. They lived on a farm west of Dexter until 1940 when they moved back to Dexter. She lost her husband George in a train accident in 1949.

Nellie worked at the Dexter Clinic Hospital for 16 years, as a nurses aide for most of those years, and she was also a faithful custodian of the Dexter Methodist Church for eight years. She dearly loved birds and would attend the injured ones with tenderness and care.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Lillian McCradden Krause, of Des Moines, Iowa; two nieces, Ruby Brown of Bondurant, Iowa and Judy Story of Des Moines, Iowa.

Graveside services were conducted on Friday, February 14, 1986 at Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, Iowa with the Reverend Robert Farr officiating. Interment was in Dexter cemetery.
