Earlham EchoYoung Woman Called By Death
Word was received here last Sunday morning by relatives, telling of the death of Mrs. Francis Day. Mrs. Day died quite suddenly from a heart attack. Her home was in Slocum, Texas. She was the youngest daughter of Mr. S. S. Compton of Earlham.
Rose, as she was called, was born August 20, 1918 on a farm east of Earlham and at the time of her death was 28 years and a few months old. Her funeral was held at her home town Monday afternoon. As her father could not be present at the services, he with relatives and a few friends gathered at the E. S. Compton home to pay tribute to his loved one that had passed away so suddenly. Rev. Overholser had charge of this short service and Mrs. Esther Allen sang, “Does Jesus Care” and “In the Garden.” She seemed so young in life to be snatched away, from her home and loved ones, but when the messenger came she had to go.
