Obituary

Martha Ann Glenn Sturman was born in Coshoctan county, Ohio March 2, 1832. Her maiden name was Glenn.

She was married at Plainfield, Ohio in 1858 to Edmund Sturman and came to Madison county in June 1863. To them were born 9 children, 3 dying in infancy, 3 during childhood and 3 still surviving. The youngest, Mrs. Clara Young, of Centralia, Wash., Mrs. Sadie C. S. Garrett, of Manilla, P.I., and the eldest, Dr. Wilbur F. Sturman of this city.

At the time of her death she was visiting her nephew, Dr. Clark M. Carr, of North Bend, Neb., and was on her way to Winterset from Centralia, Wash. She was sick but a few days and her death was caused by pleurisy extending into the lung substance producing a hypostatic pneumonia.

She was a life long member of the Presbyterian church and had many friends in Union township in what was formerly known as the Sturman neighborhood and many in Winterset and surrounding country.

Funeral services were held at 2:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the residence of her son and her remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband in their lot in the Winterset cemetery.
