Fries Girl Victim of Traffic Accident
Heidi Fries, 15, of Earlham, drowned early Sunday after the car in which she was riding ran off the road and the girl was thrown from the car into a water filled ditch along Iowa Highway 90 about a mile south of DeSoto.
The Highway Patrol said the car driven by Charles Mills, 25, of Earlham, apparently skidded off the highway during heavy rain and overturned in the ditch. Officers said the girl was thrown from the car and pinned beneath the car when it rolled into the ditch.
Services for Miss Fries will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Nottger Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Burial will be in Waterloo.
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Helen Fries of Cedar Falls; her father, Hal Fries of Earlham; a brother, Phillip, stationed with the Army in Germany, and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Andreessen of Cedar Falls.
