MAY JEAN CLARK, Winterset

S. May Jean Clark, 85, died at home on Nov. 13, 2008. After cremation, the family held a private memorial on Tuesday at the family homestead. A public memorial will be held at a later date.

May Jean Clark was born on Dec. 12, 1922, to Lanson Orville and Anna May (Allgeyer) Howell. She married Albert S. Clark on Feb. 14, 1940, in Greenfield. They were married 61 years. They farmed together in Douglas Township until 1995.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset, serving as circle leader and on other various committees. May Jean belonged to the M.A.O. Club (My Afternoon Out) and served as an Extension Council committee person. She was active in 4-H and also enjoyed working on the election board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother.

She is survived by a son, Charles A. Clark (wife Susan) of Winterset, and a daughter, Sherry L. Archer (husband Robert) of Port Orchard, Wash.; a sister, Annabelle Garret of Issaquah, Wash.; and four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
