Death of Mrs. P. B. Compton.

Mrs. P. B. Compton, once well known as an Earlham girl through residence here of some fifteen years, passed away last Thursday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Emmet Kail at Twin Falls, Idaho, where she went last spring with her husband in the hope of improving her health. Death came to her in her 59th year, she having been born in Decatur, Ill. On March 3, 1862.

Clara A. Sandham moved with her parents to Madison County, Iowa in 1866 and here spent her girlhood until the 14th of April, 1881 when she was married to P. B. Compton. Four children came to bless this union, Rex R., Myrtle, George L. and Phil W., all of whom survive her in addition to her husband.

Soon after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Compton moved to Winterset, later chosing Stuart for their permanent home. Mrs. Compton was a frequent caller on her Earlham relatives and friends, especially at the time her sons George and Phil engaged in the restaurant business here a few years ago. She was a member of the Eastern Star and took a considerable interest in the activities of her church, the Congregational.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational church in Stuart on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock and interment was in South Oak Grove cemetery. The Eastern Star members attended the body to its last resting place. A large attendance of sorrowing relatives and friends from a wide radius were also present.
