Earlham Echo – November 20, 1969

Florence H. Stapes, daughter of Earnest and Barbara Ann Stapes, was born January 14, 1920, at Forest City, Iowa, and passed away November 8, 1969, at the Dexter Clinic hospital.

She lived most of her life in Earlham and Redfield. She was united in marriage to Homer Blauer, and to them two daughters were born: Mrs. Wava Chance of Norwalk, Iowa, and Mrs. Bonita Thompson of Topeka, Kansas.

On July 4, 1968, she married Merlyn Danley, and they resided in Earlham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Merle Stapes, and one sister, Anna Mae.

Survivors include her children, four brothers and four sisters: Floyd Stapes, Elmer Stapes, Forrest Stapes, Earl Stapes, Mae Tate, Helen Kinkennon, Ruby Wheeler and Dolly Tiedeman, and by two grandchildren, Lisa and Jerrod Thompson.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and enjoyed many pets and animals and outdoor activities.

Final rites were held Tuesday, November 11, at the DeFord-Fisher Chapel in Redfield with the Rev. John Latta officiating. Interment was in Morrisburg cemetery. Mrs. Donna Cotton and Mrs. Bonnie Madren sang two numbers as Vyrlee Godwin played the organ. Casket bearers were Merlyn Stapes, Lloyd Stapes, Darrell Stapes, Jerry Tiedeman, William Tiedeman, jr., and Kenneth Wheeler.
