Obituary

Frank Marshall Irwin was born in Orange, Massachusetts on October 26, 1908, and passed away at a Los Angeles, California hospital on December 25, 1968. While still a small child he removed with his family to Dexter, Iowa where he grew to manhood.

He was united in marriage to Mary Marguerite McKibben on May 2, 1933. To this union four children were born. They made their home in Earlham until 1941, when they moved to Long Beach, California.

He was employed at Hawkeye Portland Cement Company at Earlham and West Des Moines for several years. He worked at Douglas Aircraft Company, Long Beach, for four years and at Union Oil Refinery at Wilmington, California, for thirteen years.

Frank was very conscious of the problems of his neighbors and friends and the welfare of his community. On many occasions he volunteered his leisure time to assist others.

Due to unforeseen circumstances he was unable to continue in his chosen line of work, and has been physically disabled and hospitalized since 1958. He spent over nine years as a patient in Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California. When able, Mr. Irwin continued his trend of helping others less fortunate than he. During his illness he retained his good sense of humor and seldom complained. Frank always had faith and hope and looked forward to the day he would be home again.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jennie Bouplon Irwin, and by one brother, John Irwin, and one sister, Eva Rasmussen.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Robert M. and Richard L.; two daughters, Audrey Tasiemski and Kathleen Anderson, three grandsons, four granddaughters, two sons-in-law Walter Tasiemski and Gerald Anderson; two daughters-in-law, Beverly and Deanne Irwin; three brothers, Tom, Ralph and Arthur Irwin; one sister Frances Ikerd; twenty-two nieces and nephews and many friends.

He has been a member of the Methodist church for many years, for the past several years belonging to Silverado United Methodist church in Long Beach, California.

Frank Irwin will long be remembered for his many fine qualities.
