ALMIRA ALYEA JACKSON

Mrs. Nelson Jackson died at her home near the Backbone Mill in Lincoln township, on last Thursday, Jan. 23. She had been in critical health for some time and an operation undertaken in the hope of saving her life was unsuccessful.

The deceased had lived in this county for many years and was fifty six years old.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis, were held at the Adventist church on Sunday and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Almira Alijea Jackson, daughter of Jacob and Lucinda Alijea was born in Indiana May 6, 1856, and died at her home near Winterset January 22, 1913, aged 56 years, 8 months and 16 days. On Sept. 9, 1869, at Louisville, Ky., she was united in marriage to Nelson Jackson. Sixteen children were born to this union—8 boys and 8 girls, all of whom are married except four. Viola, who died at the age of 5 years, and Odell, Alta, and Enos, who are at home. Mrs. Irene Hardin died Feb. 6, 1900, Oliver Jackson died Feb. 28, 1899. Mrs. Luella Epperson of Texas, Andrew of Oklahoma, Mrs. Anna Hircock near Winterset, Henry near Knoxville, Edward of Winterset, Mrs. Lucinda Beall of Oklahoma, Mrs. Mabel Endally of Minnesota, Ernest of Winterset, Mrs. Maude Gray near Winterset, and Roger of Oklahoma. The husband, 13 children, 48 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren remain to mourn her death. The husband and five children were with her to the last, and all the children were present except Mrs. Epperson.

She united with the M.E. church when a girl and within the last seven years has lent towards the Advent church. She was always very helpful in sickness, of ten at the expense of self, but always cheerfully gave of time and strength to others.

The funeral services were held in the Advent church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis and interment was made in the Rock City cemetery.
