Pg 1Mr. Jacobs Dead.
Mr. Jacob Jacobs, father of Rev. A. Jacobs, of this city, died at the home of his son Sunday morning at 7 o’clock after a protracted illness. The funeral was held at the home Monday morning at 8 o’clock, preached by Rev. J. R. Murphy, and the remains were taken to Harlan, Iowa, for interment. Rev. Jacobs accompanying them to their last resting place.
Mr. Jacobs was 73 years and 5 months old at the time of death. He was a devoted Christian, a member of the Baptist church. He was a native of Denmark, and his son, Rev. Anthony, now pastor of the First Baptist church of this city, is his only surviving child. Two sons died in Denmark a few years ago. His wife still survives him, but is in feeble health. For four years Rev. Jacobs had provided in his household a home for his aged parents and done everything possible to make their lives happy and comfortable. A more dutiful son to parents cannot be found on this earth than he has been to his father and mother, and now he sadly lays the former to rest at the place where he requested to be taken after death.
“Peace to his ashes” of this good old Christian gentleman who lived not in vain.
