Obituary

Robert Allen Holmes, son of William A. and Elizabeth Ogle Holmes, was born in Warren Co., Iowa, on March 17, 1879, and passed away at the Veterans hospital in Sepulveda, California on September 3, 1966.

He was graduated from Drake University and Iowa City Dental College in Des Moines in 1903 and practiced for 19 years in Earlham, at which time he and his wife, Viola, moved to Glendale, California where he has since resided. His wife preceded him in death.

He was married to Viola Garmon in 1905. He enlisted in the Army in 1918 as he was too old to be drafted, but wanted to serve his country.

He leaves to mourn his loss, two sisters—Dorothy Schoenmann of Blockton, Iowa who had been staying with him the past two years, and Nellie M. Holmes of Columbia, Missouri; a niece, Mrs. Merrill G. Smith, jr. of Charles City, and a nephew, Gordon H. Schoenmann of Glendale and numerous friends here and in other states.

He was a member of the American Legion, Post 127 of Glendale, and they had charge of the funeral services.

Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, Calif. on Thursday, September 8.
