MARJORY SCHUTZ, WINTERSET

Marjory Schutz, 92, of Winterset, Iowa, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating. Burial was at Moon Cemetery in rural Macksburg.

Marjory was born on Feb. 26, 1916, in Oregon, Mo., to Avon and Mabel (Milne) Murray. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Northwest Missouri Teachers College in 1939. On Aug. 9, 1941, in Oregon, Mo., she married Calvin Andrew Schutz of Macksburg. They lived in the Madison County/Adair County area from 1940 until their passing. Marjory was a retired music and English teacher for the Macksburg, Zion and Greenfield school districts. She also did volunteer work wherever she was located and enjoyed being involved in politics.

Marjory is survived by her son, Don (Holly) Schutz of Macksburg; sister-in-law, Velma Rose Murray of Omaha, Neb.; sister, Frances Outland of Racine, Wis.; brother-in-law, Charles Willis of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren — Karla, Terry, Doug, Ben, Kaleb (Stacy), Kalli (Rainer) and Laura (Brandon); 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Marjory was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin; brother, Russell Murray; sister, Louise Willis; and great-grandson, Joneus Wagner.

Memorials given to the family will be directed to Macksburg United Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements were handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
