Obituary

Funeral services were held June 16 for Eva Sarah Plagman at the United Church of Christ at Peterson, Iowa. Interment was in St. John’s cemetery at Peterson.

Eva Sarah Standing Plagman, the daughter of Charles and Mary Nicholson Standing, was born July 21, 1909 at Earlham, Iowa and passed away at her home in Brooke Township, June 14, 1964. She was 54 years, 10 months and 23 days of age.

Her first years of schooling were attained from the Cedar Grove Friends school and her high school at West Branch, Ia. She was a graduate of Wm. Penn College. Eva taught Home Economics and English at Peru, Ia., Okoboji Township, Brooke Consolidated and Archer, Iowa. In 1942 she worked with deep sympathetic interest at the refugee center at Scattergood school at West Branch, Iowa.

She was a life long member of the Society of Friends at Bear Creek, Earlham, Iowa. Eva served as President of the Woman’s Guild of the St. John’s church and recently was accepted into membership of the St. John’s United Church of Christ at Brooke.

On February 11, 1943 she was united in marriage to Walter Plagman at Oskaloosa, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Ruth Alice, Carl Walter and Thomas A.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Left to cherish her memory with her husband and three children are three sisters, Alice Standing Deatsch, Amy Standing Haworth, and Elsie Standing Osborne, three brothers Arthur, Bernard and Albert Standing, numerous relatives and many friends.
