Died, of measles, February 23, 1898, Miss Jessie Likens, youngest daughter of Mrs. George Weeks. Again death claims one of our number; a youth in early bloom whose life had reached 17 summers. Jessie had been sick but a few days when the Death Angel came and took the spirit home to Him who gave it. She was converted a few days previous to her death, and said she was going Home.
The funeral services occurred Thursday, conducted by Rev. Samuel Callison, of Winterset.

Jessie Likens, daughter of Mrs. G. F. Weeks, of Monroe township, was born January 6, 1881, and died of measles February 23, 1898, after a short but severe illness.
Funeral services were held at the house, conducted by Rev. S. J. Callison, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Hamlin cemetery.
She was a young lady of exemplary character, although she made no profession of religion until her recent illness. She professed conversion and by her expressions of praise to her blessed Savior she showed to her friends and relatives that all was well.

Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
Thou are gone to the grave;
But we will not deplor thee.
Though sorrow and darkness encompass the tomb.
The Savior has passed through its portals before thee.
And the lamp of His love is thy guide through the gloom.
