Died, at his home in Truro, Monday, February 21st, 1898, of lung trouble, John Walker, aged 73 years, 3 months and 15 days. Deceased was born in Mercer county, Pa. He married Eliza Cherum in 1842, near Rockwell, Indiana.

In 1849 they removed to Iowa and settled near Pella, in 1875 they removed to Madison county where he has since resided.

Samuel C. Walker, his only surviving child was at his bedside at the time of his death.

His first wife died in 1887. He was again married to Sarah Ewing in 1890, who died July 30th, 1897.

John Walker died at his home in Truro, Iowa, Monday, February 21st, 1898, of congestion of the lungs aged 75 years 3 months and 16 days.

Deceased was born in Mercer county, Pennsylvania. He removed with his father to Edgar county, Ill in 1837. He was married to Eliza Chezum in 1842, near Rockwell, Ind. In 1849 they removed to Iowa and settled near Pella; in '78 they removed to Madison county which has been his home since. He was the father of five children 3 girls and 2 boys, four of whom have preceded him to the spirit world.

Samuel C. Walker survives him and was at his bedside at the time of his death. His first wife died in '87. He was again married to Sarah Ewing in '90, who died July 30, 1897.

He was for many years connected with the church he gave testimony in his dying hour of his continued faith in God. He said to an inquiring brother, "I am ready to go." The funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., by Rev. J. I. Farley, assisted by Rev. Lamb. A large number of his old neighbors and friends were in attendance and after the sermon followed the mortal remains to their last resting place, and paid him the last mark of respect and love.
