Obituary

Elizabeth Leinard was born near Mo-refield, Harrison county, Ohio, July 5th, 1839, and died Thursday, October 7th, 1897, aged 58 years, 3 months and 2 days.

Her early childhood was spent with her parents in the state of Ohio, and with them she removed to Winterset, Iowa, in the fall of the year, 1852, being at that time about 13 years of age. Since that time her life has been identified with the people of Winterset and Madison county, among whom she has lived for forty-five years.

On the 25th day of March 1856, she was married to George T. Darnall, with whom she lived for over forty years. Eight children were born to them, two of whom died in infancy, the other six—four sons and two daughters—having grown to years of maturity, and most of them have established homes of their own. Two sons still remain in the parental home. These children all live near by and had the satisfaction of being with their mother in her last sickness and all stood around her couch as she took her departure from this earth.

Mrs. Darnall was raised in the Christian faith of Methodist parents, and early in life identified herself with that church.
