The body of Ed. White, who was sent to the penitentiary at Fort Madison in February, 1896, and who died there last week, was brought here for burial last Thursday. The particulars of his death are not received, but it is understood that he died of fever. The body was buried at the Hooten cemetery, in Lincoln township.
White was convicted at the February, 1896, term of court of grand larceny in stealing hogs, and was sent up for two years. Making allowance for good behavior, his term of imprisonment would soon have expired. He was a single man and still comparatively young.

He was a quiet man and prison life made him despondent. When consumption attacked him he easily fell victim to it.
