Page 5Mrs. A. W. Filkin died Monday, June 16th at the hospital in Clarinda, where she had been for the past two years. The body was brought here on Thursday morning, and short funeral service took place at the home at nine o’clock and interment in the King cemetery, near Elm Grove. She leaves beside her husband, two adopted children, Sam and Bertha Filkin.

Mrs. Filkin of Winterset, was buried in the King cemetery, Thursday. She was the daughter of Jesse Allen who lived in this neighborhood several years ago.

Page 1Phoebe E. Allen was born in Madison county, Iowa, May 18, 1868, united in marriage to A. W. Filkin February 14, 1892 and died June 17, 1913, aged 45 years and 29 days.
She leaves to mourn her husband, two adopted children, Samuel W. and Bertha May, father, one brother, one sister, three half sisters and one half brother.
Interment was made Thursday in the King’s cemetery, nine miles southeast of Winterset.
