Charles Jasper Stuart, son of Koonrod and Matilda Stuart was born February 2, 1874 at Topeka, Kansas and died December 14, 1951 at the age of 77 years, 10 months, and 12 days.

When a small boy he moved to Iowa with his parents. On March 14, 1894 he was married to Myrtle Allen who preceded him in death on July 17, 1920. To this union were born five children, Clara and Lyle who died in infancy, Lloyd who died December 25, 1914, Raymon of New Virginia and Mrs. Dulcy Wickett of Indianola.

Besides Raymon and Dulcy he is survived by five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Mary Keener of Des Moines, two brothers, John of Peru, and Elmer of New Virginia, also several nieces and nephews. Three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

He moved to the Medford neighborhood in 1914 from Madison County. In 1914 he united with the Medford Methodist Church and continued to hold his membership there at the time of his death.

He passed away suddenly at the home of his son Raymon with whom he had made his home for the past twenty-six years.

Charley, as he was so well and favorably known by his many friends had been enjoying exceptionally good health for one of his years and his sudden death came as a shock to his family and neighbors; however he will always be remembered as a kind father and grandfather, and a good neighbor who was always willing to assist in any way he could if help was needed.

Funeral services were held Monday Dec. 17, at 1:30 P.M. at the Methodist church in New Virginia and were conducted by Rev. W. J. Fowler. Burial was in the King cemetery west of St. Charles.
