Obituary.

Mabel C. Higgs, aged 13 years, was buried from the home of her grandfather, J. R. Davis, on Tuesday last. She was a daughter of C. A. and Mattie Higgs, of Union township. Mabel had been attending school at Redfield, Iowa, living at the home of her uncle, Joseph Northy, where she contracted measles. She had almost recovered from the disease when she was taken with pneumonia from which she died. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. M. Acheson, assisted by Rev. Albert Gordon, of Burlington, Iowa. She was a member of the United Brethren church, and a womanly girl far beyond her years. Her pure life here is ended, but her soul is living on.

Her death was very unexpected; yet the pleasing feature of it all she died in the hope and promises of her Savior. Her parents, family and friends certainly will have the sympathy of the entire community.

Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
