Elmer, the three and a half years old son of J. C. and Mrs. McKinney was laid to rest by kind hands on last Saturday. He was a remarkably bright and lovable child, the youngest of a family of seven children, and the only boy. His loss at this time is distressing to his parents and loving sisters. His death was caused by diphtheritic croup.

The friends of A. C. McKinney, who recently moved from here to St. Charles, will be pained to learn of the death of the youngest member of the family, a boy about four years of age, and on whom the entire family doted. He died of diphtheria, and was buried Saturday last. The family have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.

Transcriber's note: The gravestone date of death is inconsistent with this obit by two years although the day and month are correct. Based on the 1897 death and the obit age of "3 1/2 years", the date of birth is probably 1893 rather than the gravestone's 1892.
