Friday, April 9, 1897Obituary -
At the Roseman home, March 15th, after a long and painful illness, Alice Carey Roseman Torode entered into the rest that remaineth for the people of God.
She was born in Madison county, Iowa, June 1, 1868. Early in life she joined the M. E. church, of which she remained a constant and faithful member, always interested and helpful in every department of the church work. August 18th, 1895, she was united in marriage with Frank L. Torode, at Valparaiso, Nebraska.
Last July because of increasing illness, she was compelled to direct her attention to the restoration of her health, if that object might be obtained. In company with a part of those nearest and dearest to her, she went to Colorado, hoping that the sunshine of that glorious mountain region would bring the bloom of health back to her cheeks, but it was too late.
She gave to the world a patient, devoted, unselfish life, always a true, loyal and devoted servant to her God. Above all, she left a spotless character that no pen can describe. It was a beautiful type of Christian womanhood that she exhibited in her daily life.
The funeral services were held at Penn Center, March 17, conducted by Rev. Sam’l Krell, of Audubon, after which she was laid to rest in the cemetery by her mother, as she had desired.
Another vacant chair in this loved and loving home circle and one more treasure in heaven for the husband, father, brothers and sisters to love and cherish. She has only gone out of the valley and shadow and has climbed the mountain heights to God in the enjoyment of “Sweet peace, the gift of God’s love.” Cora A. Neff
Note: Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
