Curt Alexander, 86, of Winterset, Iowa, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Dr. Beverlee Bell officiating. The body has been cremated, with the cremains being interred at Winterset Cemetery.
Curt was born Dec. 28, 1921, in Madison County, Iowa, to Erving and Addy (Miller) Alexander. In 1939, he graduated from Winterset High School and on Nov. 23, 1944, he married Doris Elaine Wight in Winterset. Curt was a lifetime resident of Madison County, being born and having died in the same family home. He had been a farmer his entire lifetime, having also ventured in the service station and tire business with best friend Bob Ringgenberg. He had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Curt loved to go fishing and when Doris was living, they loved to go hunting.
Curt is survived by his daughters, Vicky (Frank) Morris of Winterset and Judy (Mark) McHose of Owings Mills, Md.; grandchildren — Stacie (John Thomson) Morris, Jeremy (Amanda) Morris and Kendra (Chris) Berman; and great-grandchildren — Julie Morris, Evan Morris, Ethan Berman and Emily Berman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erving and Addy (Miller) Alexander; his wife, Doris Alexander; a daughter, Jean Anne Alexander; a brother, Wayne Alexander; and a sister, Ruth Wight.
No visitation is scheduled. Memorials given to the family will be directed to Middle River Hospice.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
