Winterset, Iowa
Wednesday, May 31, 1899

St. Charles - Mr. James Milner rounded up an honorable life of almost eighty-five years on last Friday afternoon. He had been an active life of industry and good deeds, and his health remarkably good until quite recently.

The funeral occurred on Saturday afternoon. A son and daughter from Council Bluffs and a daughter from Creston came to attend the funeral and view the remains of their most excellent father. A widow and four children, whose mother was the first wife of the deceased, survive him and realize the irreparable loss. No words penned by the writer could do full justice to the virtues of this steadfast Christian gentleman.
