Afton News

Joseph Hickman, a young man whose mother lives in Madison county, and who was herding cattle in Grant township, was found by his brother the next morning, with his horse, both dead. They had been killed instantly. His hat was torn at the top. The bolt had struck him near the crown of his head, had broken the skin of his scalp, and burned a line down the back. The saddle was torn to pieces, and the horse shocked to death. The horse and man had died without a struggle.
