Thursday, October 12, 1905Noel Monroe Beardsley was born May 16, 1831, in New York. When but a small child, he moved with his parents to Knoxville, Ohio, from there to Chandlerville, Ill., where he was married, March 26, 1856 to Julia Winsted. To this union was born six children, three of whom survive him.
He moved from Illinois to Boone, Iowa where on Nov. 16, 1856 he was left with four motherless children. On October 3d, 1876, he was married to Martha White. To this union were born six children, three having preceded him to the great beyond. In the fall of 1872, he moved with his family to the present homestead.
Mr. Beardsley was a great sufferer, having been afflicted since December in 1897, and has been an invalid ever since. Though suffering intensely at times, he was patient through it all, and at last on the forenoon of October 3d, death came to his relief. He often expressed a desire to be at rest, and as he knocked at the door, Mercy expressed an assurance of divine acceptance.
He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss. He was 74 years 4 months and 17 days old.

N. M. Beardsley died Tuesday at his home in Scott township, and the funeral was held at the home today. The interment took place in the Peru cemetery. Mr. Beardsley was one of Madison county’s oldest and most highly respected citizens and leaves a host of friends who extend their heart felt sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
