Services Held for Mrs. Ardie M. Fegan

Services for Mrs. Ardie M. Fegan were held at Penn Center church Saturday, September 10, with Rev. Robert Williams in charge. The pianist was Mrs. Sumner Mapes and soloist Sumner Mapes, Jr.

Casket bearers were Hazen Morford, Dale Boyle, Lester Boyle, Frantz Lenocker, Mervyn Armstrong and Donald Rose. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.

OBITUARY

Ardie Margaret Funston, daughter of Noah and Margaret Funston, was born in Amberson Valley, Pennsylvania on December 14, 1882 and passed from this life at the home of her son near Earlham, on September 7, 1960 at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 24 days.

On April 21, 1900, she was united in marriage to David A. Fegan. To this union were born three children: a son, C. B. Fegan of Earlham, and two daughters, Mrs. Edna Thompson of Woodward and Mrs. Arthur Myers of Lake Villa, Illinois who preceded her in death.

The family lived in Pennsylvania until 1906 when they moved to Illinois. In 1917 they came to Iowa to live in the Penn Center neighborhood.

She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, one daughter, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will also be missed by a brother, J. S. Funston of Amberson, Pennsylvania and a sister, Mrs. H. I. Johnson of Orrstown, Penn., besides several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Last Rites Sept. 10 for Mrs. Ardie Fegan

Died at Home of Son Near Earlham Sept. 7

Funeral services were held at two o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Penn Center Methodist church for Mrs. Ardie Margaret Fegan, 77, who passed away at the home of her son, C. B. Fegan of near Earlham. Mrs. Fegan had been in ill health for the last four months. She was hospitalized at the Redfield Clinic hospital for two weeks before going to her son’s home where she was taken care of by Mrs. Fegan for the past 11 weeks.

Mrs. Fegan was well known in Dexter having kept house for Pete Jensen for five years prior to her illness.

The Rev. Robert Williams, pastor of the church, officiated at the services. The soloist was Sumner Mapes, jr., who was accompanied at the piano by his mother Mrs. Sumner Mapes.

Flowers were arranged by Ruth Boyle, Dorothy Morford and Louise Moreland. Casketbearers were Lester and Dale Boyle, Frantz Lenocker, Hazen Morford, Mervin Armstrong, and Donald Ross.
