Obituary

James C. Fritsen, son of John and Elsie Fritsen, was born in Kellogg, Iowa, October 6, 1885, and passed away June 2, 1960 in the Garwood nursing home at Dexter, where he has been since March 1958.

He attended the Earlham public school graduating in 1904. He later attended the CCCC College in Des Moines. For a number of years he was a chef in Chicago. After his mother’s death he returned to Earlham to care for his father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Fred, and a sister Margaret. Surviving are four sisters: Mrs. Dora Madsen of Chehalis, Washington, Mrs. Mary Smith of Des Moines, Mrs. Ella Andrew of Earlham and Mrs. Kathryn Coard of Forth Worth, Texas; and many nephews and nieces.

The funeral service was held at the Friends church in Earlham June 4 at 2:00 p.m. with the pastor, L. Willard Reynolds, conducting the service. Casket bearers were Wayne Thomas, Forrest Smith, Earl Anker, Jess Nelson, Roland Conrad and Floyd Thompson. Mrs. Helen Ludwick was in charge of the music. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
