Obituary

Died, Mrs. W. L. Foreman, at her home in this city, Wednesday, December 2d, 1896, of stomach trouble. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon, and preached by Rev. Ely, assisted by Rev. Jacobs.

Martha J. Bond was born in Henry county, Indiana, July 14th, 1839, and married to W. L. Foreman Feb. 10, 1859. They came to Lee county, Iowa, in 1860, moving from that place to Winterset in 1893, where they have since resided. Four children, Charley, Alice, Lennie and Effie, together with her husband, are left to mourn her loss. Charley lives in the eastern part of the state and the other three live in Winterset.

Deceased has three sisters, two living in Henry county, Indiana, and one in New York City.

Her death was quite sudden and fell heavily on the home. Mrs. Foreman was a lady of high character and greatly esteemed by all who knew her during her long and useful life.

Mrs. W. L. Foreman, whose sickness was noted in Tuesday’s paper, died at her home in the northern part of the city Wednesday evening. The Foremans came here from Lee county a few years ago. In all their circle of acquaintances they are held in the highest estimation, and the bereaved husband and family will have their warmest sympathy.

The funeral was held this afternoon at the Presbyterian church.

Obituary

Martha J. Bond was born in Henry county, Indiana, July 14, 1839. She was married February 10, 1859, to Wm. L. Foreman, and came to Lee county, Iowa, in the year 1860, and resided there until 1893, when the family came to Winterset to make its home. Here she died on December 2, 1896, at the age of fifty-seven years, four months and eighteen days.

She was the mother of two sons and two daughters, Charles, Alice, Lennie and Effie. All of them reside here, except the elder son, Charles, whose home is in the eastern part of the state. She leaves three sisters, two of whom reside in Henry county, Ind., and the other in New York City.

The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church in this place, on Friday afternoon, December 4, the services being conducted by Rev. B. E. S. Ely, pastor of the Presbyterian church, and Rev. A. Jacobs, pastor of the Baptist church.

Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
