Page 7The remains of Mr. John Fitzpatrick, an old and respected resident of Winterset, were brought here today for burial. Since the breaking up of his home here he had resided with his son at Fort Scott, Kansas, where his death occurred. Not long since it was our painful duty to report the sudden death of Mrs. Fitzpatrick, and her aged husband soon followed her to the better land. He was a man of upright Christian character and unassuming deportment, who performed his part in life quietly, but faithfully. The funeral service is being held at the Presbyterian church as we go to press. The burial service will be conducted by the Odd Fellows, of whose fraternity Mr. Fitzpatrick was a prominent member.

Page 5John Fitzpatrick Dead.—The remains of Mr. John Fitzpatrick arrived in Winterset Tuesday for burial. The funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church by Rev. Ely, the Winterset order I.O.O.F. having the funeral in charge. Mr. Fitzpatrick used to live in Winterset, but a few months ago moved to Ft. Scott, Kansas, where he died. He was a highly respected old gentleman, and his death left many sad hearts wherever he was known.

John Fitzpatrick, one of the oldest citizens of Winterset, died at Fort Scott, Kansas. The body was brought to Winterset and the funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Tuesday.
Mr. Fitzpatrick was one of the best men that ever lived. During long years of service as janitor of the south ward school house, his kindly manner endeared him to thousands of children who became his lifelong friends. He was a noble old man and never had an unkind word for any man. There is scarcely a household to which the News goes but that will hear of his death with sorrow. Since the death of Mrs. Fitzpatrick, which occurred only a few months ago, Mr. Fitzpatrick has been living with a son at Fort Scott.
The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church and the burial services were conducted by the Odd Fellows.
