A Madison County Pioneer Gone.

Word was received here Tuesday evening of the death at the home of his son, Fred Beerbower, in South Des Moines, of George A. Beerbower, who was one of the pioneers and for many years a resident of this county, residing about two miles west of the city, the name being still perpetuated in the “Beerbower school house.”

Mr. Beerbower was born in Maryland, in 1817. In early life he removed to Holmes county, Ohio, whence in 1852 he removed to this county, where he continued to reside till a short time ago, when he went to Des Moines to reside with his son, his wife having some years ago passed to the beyond. He was always esteemed in the neighborhood as an upright God-fearing man, model husband and father, a good neighbor, and as a citizen, energetic, progressive and patriotic.

The religious services of the funeral obsequies were held at Des Moines and the remains brought to Winterset today for interment in the cemetery here, by the side of his wife, and son and daughter. The body on its arrival at the station was in charge by Evening Star Masonic Lodge, of which deceased was a charter member, and conveyed to its last resting place, where with the ceremonies of the order he loved, all that was mortal of George A. Beerbower, was consigned to the tomb, to await the resurrection of the just.
