Death of MRS. HARRY HOLBROOK

The news of the death of Mrs. Harry Holbrook early Tuesday morning March 14th, came as a great shock to many, who were ignorant of her illness.

Mrs. Holbrook, with her husband, had been for several weeks in attendance upon his mother, who had been very sick with the gripe. The sudden illness and death of Mrs. Arnold, the companion of the elder Mrs. Holbrook, caused a breakdown of the daughter-in-law, who was carried to her home. A severe cold ran rapidly into pneumonia, and debilitated condition being against her recovery from the first.

Mrs. Holbrook was the daughter of Jos. Betts, for whom she has cared for since the death of Mrs. Betts several years ago.

After graduation here in the class of 1887, she taught for a short time in the country, succeeding Miss Leech at the south ward school, remaining there until 1898. Several years of experience as a clerk with Koser Bros., and with her school teaching gave a wide acquaintance in the county. Perhaps her strongest trait was loyalty, the example of her tenderness and devotion to her own and to her husband's people proving that to be. The testimony of many of her pupils corroborates this statement, for they relate numberless influences of her thoughtfulness and usefulness during illness in their homes.

The sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mr. Holbrook in the heavy burdens which he has been called upon to bear.

The burial services will be held at the residence on East Green street tomorrow at 2:30, Dr. J. S. Corkey conducting.
