Page 1Mr. S. Branson, an old and respected citizen of East Peru, died on the 14th. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church on the afternoon of the 16th. His son Albert, and wife, of Omaha, arrived just in time to be with him the last few hours that preceded his death. Mrs. Branson in her lonely widowhood has the sympathy of her many friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Lechon of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Pardo of Omaha, and Mr. Hartsler of Indianola attended the funeral.

Samuel Branson died January 14th after a short illness of lung fever. His many friends will miss him and will long remember the jolly old man who, in spite of his 83 years, shoveled more coal and sawed more wood this winter than most of the young men.
