Helen Jackson, 97, of Winterset died March 29, 2008, at her home.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, April 2) at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset. Burial was at Peru Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Presbyterian Church. Arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
Helen Jackson was born June 8, 1910, in Scott Township, Madison County, to Dennis E. and Bessie J. (Lorimor) Hollingsworth. She graduated from Winterset High School and went on to attend Iowa State and Drake University. She later married Leslie Jackson, Helen was a second-grade teacher and taught at several Des Moines schools. She also spent a year in Germany where she taught for the United States Army. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and the Progressive Study Club, both of Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Bernard Hollingsworth; and two sisters, Evlyn Conley and Doris Griswold.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Norberg of Kansas City, Kan., and several nieces and nephews.
