Mrs. Joseph Harper, of Walnut township, died Wednesday night, the funeral occurring today. She was a sister of Mrs. A. L. Emanuel, who died the latter part of July. These women were daughters of Mrs. Morton, at whose place the Harpers lived. Mrs. Morton, who has been a widow for sixteen years, is not left entirely alone in the world, her only other child have died about three years ago.

Died, at her home in Walnut township, Mary E. Harper, October 23, 1895. She was a daughter of Hiram and Phoebe Morton, was born in Jasper county, Iowa, March 15, 1862. She came with her parents to Madison county, Iowa, in 1865, and was married to Joseph Harper September 3, 1889. She died from consumption from which for several months she had been a constant but patient sufferer.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, an affectionate daughter and a kind and respected neighbor. The mother that survives her is the last member of a family of six. The other sister died last July with the same disease. She leaves her mother, her husband and one child to mourn her loss.
The funeral services were conducted at her home Friday October 25, by Rev. C. Holmes. The remains were laid to rest in the Beem cemetery.
