DAVID GRIFFITH

David Griffith was born in Holmes County, Ohio, April 15, 1841, and died January 9, 1916, aged 74 years, 8 months and 24 days.

At the age of 20 he enlisted in Co. C. 13th Infantry, was tansferred to Co. D. 11th Ohio Volunteers. He held office of first Lieutenant with Sherman on his march to the sea. He was mustered out July 3, 1865, and the same year came to Iowa.

On March 4, 1866, he was married to Miss Hester E. Miller. To this union seven children were born, five of whom are still living. Those living are Anna Boll, Isaac, Davit T., Robert S. and Jerome. Those who have died are Ulysses and Lennie E.

He united with the M. E. church many years ago, but his deafness kept him from regular attendance in the past few years. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. M. Cable, and the remains were laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.
