Joseph William Wallace was born in Appanoose county, Iowa, June 11, 1854. He died at his mother's home in Macksburg, Nov. 5, 1917, aged 53 years, 4 months and 25 days.
On Nov. 26, 1884, he was united in marriage to Ella Spangler at Larned, Kansas. To this union was born one daughter, Ethel.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, one daughter, an aged mother, and six brothers: R. J. and J. B. Wallace of Gravity, Iowa; Frank of Des Moines; I. N. of St. Joseph, Mo.; L.D. and Dr. C.M. Wallace of Macksburg; besides a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
He was a member of Fern lodge No. 556 A.F. and A.M. Lorimor and Fremont lodge No. 98, I.O.O.F. Florence, Colo. The funeral was in charge of the Masonic order and was held in the M. E. church, Wednesday, Nov. 7th. The sermon was preached by Rev. Andrews assisted by Rev. Cross and interment was made in the Moon cemetery.
