MARIE SIVARD, Missouri

Gladys Marie Sivard, 74, of Racket, Mo., died March 2, 2008, at her home.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, March 5) at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Mo. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to Twin Lakes Hospice of Clinton, Mo.

Marie Sivard was born Oct. 22, 1933, in Osceola to Fred and Helen Butcher. She was baptized in the Winterset Methodist Church and also was a graduate of Winterset High School. Her marriage to Harold “Hal” Sivard took place June 1, 1971, in Greenfield, Ind. They made their home in various states while Hal served in the United States Air Force. In 1995, they moved from Murray, Neb., to their retirement home at Red Bud South Park near Racket, Mo. She was a chef and florist. She also was a member of Lions International for more than 15 years in Murray, Neb., and Lincoln, Mo., serving as club president and secretary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Harold Duane Hiskey; and four brothers, Darrell “Shortie,” Jackie, Donald and Bobbie Butcher.

She is survived by her husband, Hal, of Racket, Mo.; five children — Freddie Hiskey of Phoenix, Ariz., Mary Ellen Hardin of Des Monies, Rickey Berhow of Bedford, Va., Teresa Jorgenson of Sioux City, and Diedra Johnson of Maxwell; three stepsons, Harold Sivard Jr. of Plattsmouth, Neb., Daryl Sivard of Sedalia, Mo., and Duane Sivard of Ware, Mass.; a brother, Logan “Junior” Butcher of Blencoe; four sisters, Eva Funkhouser of Chapell, Neb., Iva Leird of Whitefield, Okla., Sally Brobst of Warsaw, Mo., and Mary Anderson of Ashland, Neb.; and 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
