Wayne Arnold Thomas, 79, died Feb. 19, 2008, at the Lucas County Health Center.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 22, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating. Burial was at Murray Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Lorimor United Methodist Church or to the family for a memorial to be decided at a later date.

Wayne Thomas was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Winterset to Floyd Jacob and Lillian Augusta (Arnold) Thomas. He was educated in rural school in Madison County, graduating from Winterset High School in 1946. His marriage to Donna Johnson took place Nov. 18, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Wayne farmed his whole life until he was forced to retire due to Alzheimer’s and entered Osceola Nursing & Rehab in November of 2004. Wayne was associated with Dekalb and Garst Seed Corn and Triple F. Feeds for many years. He also served on the Murray School Board and was a member of Clarke REC and the Lorimor United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Palmer.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Murray; two sons, Scott Thomas and Kent Thomas, both of Murray; one brother, Jack Thomas of Winterset; one sister, Ethel Jensen of St. Charles, Ill.; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
