MRS. I. J. DAVIS

After many years of feeble health, Mrs. I. J. Davis of Jefferson township, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eliza Taylor, on October 11 of last week.

Her maiden name was Orpha A. Kimball and her birth place Allegheny county, Pennsylvania, where she was born April 12, 1844. On December 23, 1863, she was married to I. J. Davis and moved to Boone county, Iowa, later coming to Madison county where she has resided ever since.

Their one child, Mrs. Eliza Taylor, survives the mother. Early in life Mrs. Davis united with the Methodist church and later became a member of the United Brethern denomination. In all her life she continued a consistent and conscientious Christian, a loving mother and a devoted wife.

The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon by Rev. Frederick Donovan at the Jefferson township United Brethern church. Interment was made at the cemetery nearby.

North Branch

Mrs. I. J. Davis, after many years of weary suffering, died the 11th and was laid to rest in the McDonald cemetery Saturday. Thus another good friend and neighbor has been called from among us, but our loss is her gain.

Mrs. Orpha Kimball-Davis died at her home on Oct. 11th, at the age of 73 years. For forty five years, Mrs. Davis had lived in Madison county, possessing a wide acquaintance gained through church associations and her generous spirit of neighborliness. Her husband and only daughter survive her as do three sisters and three brothers. Rev. Donovan conducted funeral services at North Branch U.B. church Saturday morning.
