MRS. GEORGE WRIGHT

Mary Farnham Wright, the fifth child of a family of six children born at Olin, Jones county, Iowa, August 11, 1866. When she was about four years old, her parents moved to Dallas county and located southwest of DeSoto. In this rural home, she spent her girlhood days attending school and from her mother obtaining the training that in later life made her the model housewife and mother.

Five weeks after her eighteenth birthday she was united in marriage, Sept. 18,1884 to George Wright and went with him at once to the new home that he had gone to Audubon county the preceding spring to prepare for her. Within the six years that she lived in Audubon county, her three sons were born, Marion and Clarence surviving her, but the third son dying in infancy.

It was in this period of her life that she felt the responsibility of Christian parenthood and while she and her husband had been church attendants, they now acccepted their obligation to Christ and the church and united together with the Methodist church near Audubon.

In 1900 she and her husband returned to De Soto and established their present home in Madison county near the Fairview church. In her home, with her children in their own homes near here, she was very happy.

In September apoplexy began to threaten her and Saturday afternoon, while preparing to come to town with her husband, the second attack prostrated her and in six hours she had passed out of this life, Oct. 6, 1917. Besides the sons and their wives, and a grandson, her husband still survives her. Her parents and a brother have departed this life, but three brothers, William of Spencer, Charles of Audubon and Alex of Orfino, Idaho and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Payton, Des Moines, survive and mourn her departure from the living.

The funeral services, attended by a host of relatives and friends, were conducted Monday afternoon, Oct. 8th, by the pastor, Rev. Holman at the Fairview Methodist church.

Note: Burial was at Fairview cemetery
